About

2018 - Originated
Lines of Thought originated on a solo snowboarding trip to the Alps in 2018. After little research, I ended up in a non-seasonaire town with minimal English speakers. Ultimately, my failure to put myself out there and socialise (not out of character) with the French meant I had my head in a little sketch book with a thick black pen mark-making and drawing, which evolved into repeating a one-line face.

I spent two weeks in the French Alps with this face in different forms. It almost felt like Wilson from Cast Away

I got back and got to work. The black ink hit differently than the other mediums I had been exploring; I liked the unforgiving consistency of the ink. If you’re full of tension, it shows. I like philosophy and learning about the workings of the mind, how it helps and hinders us, and this naturally found its way into the work.

After some small exhibitions and murals, the feedback on trying out T-shirts sounded good to me. I had done some screen printing on my FdA in London and set up my own screen-printing table in the garage. The T-shirts did well at markets, and the local skate shop, Consume, helped by putting them in-store and letting me do a weekend LOT takeover.

At the time, I didn’t know much about business, finances, or long-term vision. Inevitably I lost my way with Lines of Thought, as well as creative confidence.

2026 - We are back
Eight years after first starting Lines of Thought and attempting different creative paths, LOT is back.

The inspiration comes from moments in the day. I’ll make a quick sketch and refine it later by repeating the design, relaxing the line, making slight tweaks and changes until something feels right about the composition. Translating pencil into ink, with the difference in line thickness, it can take time to execute how you originally wanted it to feel. Sometimes the subject is an issue I’m trying to address through painting, and luckily, it turns into something that might look good on a T-shirt. Other pieces might have less depth but reference something important to me.

The garments are for people who like minimal graphics in their streetwear. I like to include a thoughtful aspect to the graphic that may or may not be interpreted the same way by the viewer. Every graphic starts as an ink painting by me and is then printed using DTG method, water-based ink printed directly onto the garment. I inspect the quality of each blank garment before adding it to the shop.
